John has extensive experience working in corporate finance and complex global contracts, including leading financial investigations and advising as both a lawyer and a banker.  Counsel on acquisitional transactions in a range of jurisdictions including Asia, UK, Europe, and America.  John advises company boards and public bodies in legal and litigation, strategy, public policy, regulatory compliance, and government relations.  John acted as general counsel for a listed co in Singapore and as a Barrister has had exposure to a wide range of industries and legislation, including contracts law, commerce, civil fraud, sanctions, competition law/anti-trust, banking, shipping, chancery, tort, criminal fraud, extradition, defamation, human rights, rights of indigenous people and employment law. John has held key roles counselling on fraud and financial irregularity investigations.

 

John has been published on the topics of UK and European anti-trust law, and is quoted and widely referenced in evidence in English and Welsh Courts of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

Extensive experience managing complex IT digital integration and management consultancy procurement, GDPR compliance, M&A, and sales projects,  in sectors including regulated telecommunications, medical/healthcare, insurance, financial technology, fiduciary, investment, consultancies, and fund administration environments. 

 

Legal support for companies going though rapid growth via the use of emerging technologies.  High level GDPR and data privacy/protection advisory roles, successful roll-outs of global GDPR compliance at Bupa, Maitland, and recently BT plc. Advising in cyber security, big data, and digital offerings to help create compliant sales pipelines for clients. 

 

Advising and training boards and executive-level staff regarding business critical legal and risk management issues, in particular contractual and operations compliance with IT and cybersecurity rules, laws, and regulations, data protection awareness, and due diligence and governance required under the GDPR.
